Wei Rongluo was a banker, son of a businessman and politician. From 1912-16, Wei Rongluo studied at the University of Hong Kong. After graduating he went to the United States and Great Britain for further studied, e.g. at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Harvard, and the King’s College in Cambridge. While still in Hong Kong, he represented China in the Far Eastern Games. During his spell in Cambridge he entered the Wimbledon tournament losing in round two. In 1921 and 1923, he played at the Far Eastern Games again. In 1924 he was appointed captain of the team that played the Davis in New York. After 1921, Wei Rongluo worked in the financial business in Shanghai and later went to the United States. On September 21, 1935, he fell into the Hudson River after a dinner party and drowned.
