For nearly 30 years Leonid Yachmenyov was the head coach of the women’s basketball club WBC Dynamo Novosibirsk. Between 1976 and 2004 Yachmenyov led the team to three USSR championships and the Ronchetti Cup in the 1985–86 season. From 1986 to 1988 he was also the head coach of the Soviet Union women’s team, with them winning the bronze medal at the 1988 Seoul Olympics.
