Teodor Florian played fullback for the Romanian team that won a bronze medal at the 1924 Paris Olympics in rugby football. There were only three teams in the 1924 Olympic tournament and the Romanians won the bronze medal despite losing both of their matches badly, losing 61-3 to France, and 37-0 to the United States. He kicked a penalty in the match against France, the only points scored by Romania at the 1924 Olympics. Florian was noted for his strong defense against France, preventing at least another half-dozen tries. Florian played for Stadiul Român in București and played back. Before World War I he played for Stade Français, while studying in France. Florian earned four caps for Romania between 1924-27, playing against France and Germany in 1927.
