Hugh Walker attended St Mary’s School, Melrose, where he played rugby and cricket. It was not until going to Edinburgh University, however, that he started playing hockey. He went on to become a Scottish international and played in both Scotland’s matches at the 1908 London Olympics. He scored in the 4-0 win over Germany, and then netted Scotland’s only goal in a 6-1 semi-final defeat by England. Nevertheless, Walker collected a bronze medal During World War I, Walker served with the Queen’s Own Cameron Highlanders and saw service in France.
Dates of birth and death also seen as 2 February 1888 - 22 October 1958, but those are not correct per Scottish records.
