Silke Wehrmeister and the West German field hockey team were fifth at the 1988 Seoul Games after a 4-2 win against Canada in the classification round. She won 52 international caps (including five indoor) between 1987-89. Domestically, Wehrmeister played with SC Charlottenburg Berlin. She later turned to coaching.
