Anke Wild

German field hockey player Anke Wild competed in the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games and won the silver medal after losing the final against Spain 2-1 after extra time. Therefore, the team and all players were awarded the Silver Bay Leaf, Germany’s highest sports award.

Internationally, Wild won the European Indoor title in 1990. In total, she played 58 international matches (including 10 indoor) from 1988-93. Domestically, she played with Rüsselsheimer RK and, from 1988, with Berliner HC. She helped Berlin to win the national title in 1994 and 1996 and the indoor title in 1992, 1995, and 1996. She also won the European Champions Cup with Berlin in 1997 and the indoor equivalent in 1993.

Wild moved to Berlin in 1988 to follow her boyfriend Andreas Keller, with whom they raised two children. After separation she partnered with Jamilon Mülders and raised another two children. They also later separated, and Wild married Sven Prinz. Wild became a schoolteacher by profession and turned to field hockey coaching. She coached youth teams at her home club Berliner HC for several years until she took over the female Bundesliga team in 2013.
