The German field hockey team won the silver medal at the 1936 Berlin Olympics after losing 8-1 to India in the final. Forward Ludwig Beisiegel scored two goals in the 6-0 win in the group stage. Between 1935-38 he won three international caps. At the club level he played for TV Jahn München.
