Mauricio, brother of Raulino Galvao, was one of the German field hockey players from Uhlenhorster HC. The team, captained by Alfons Brehm, lost to Scotland 4-0 in the first round and then beat France in the game for fifth place 1-0. The German Hockey Association was founded the next year. Galvao was briefly married to tennis player Mieken Rieck, later a prominent sports administrator both in the German and the International Field Hockey Association.
