Gyula Konorót played hockey and ice hockey in the colors of Amateur HC, BKE and Bp. Építők. Between 1929 and 1955 in hockey he won four championship titles (1933, 1934, 1944,1949) and was a member of the Hungarian national team 17 times. As a member of the team, under the name of Kormos, he participated at the 1936 Berlin Olympics. He played in all four matches, scoring the only and goal for the Hungarian team in the classification match against the Belgians.
In 1949, he founded the hockey division of Bp. Építők and helped the team as a trainer for nine league titles. As a sport diplomat between 1970 and 1980, Kormos was a member of the International Hockey Federation (FIH), member of the Technical Committee, and President of the Hungarian Hockey Association. Both of his sons (Ferenc and Gábor) were national team players in hockey.
