Franca Capetta (née Biasioli) began archery at 36-years-old, encouraged by her husband. In 1973, the year of her début, she placed second at the Italian Championship, and in 1975 she competed at her first World Championship, placing 16th. In 1976 she placed 12th at the Montréal Olympics. Capetta was sixth at the 1977 European Championship and became the first Italian female archer to exceed 1,200 points. She later placed eighth at the 1979 Worlds and 10th at the 1980 Olympics.
Capetta held national records at every distance, including the total record and the double FITA Round. In 10 years, from 1975-85, she won 15 national titles, 8 outdoors and 7 indoors. In 1981 she lost her husband, but she returned to competition in 1982, placing eighth at the Europeans. She competed at the Olympics and Worlds in 1984, but retired from international competition in 1985. She continued to compete in national events, however, in both Italy and Switzerland in the later 1980s. She later settled in Diano Marina, on the Mediterranean, where into her 80s, she still trained in archery and occasionally competed.
