Italian field hockey player Giampaolo Farci was on the team that won four national championships between 1953 to 1960. At his home Olympics in Roma in 1960 Farci only played in Italy’s opening group match, a 2–0 defeat to France, with the Italian team finishing in 13th place. He was later inducted into the Italian Field Hockey Hall of Fame.
