Shunkichi Hamada tended goal for the Japanese field hockey team at the 1932 and 1936 Olympic Games. He was selected for the team while a student at Keio University, Tokyo. He later became director of a textile company (Daiwa Spinning and O-M, Ltd.) and died at the age of 99 years from heart failure.
