While attending Meiji University, Hiroshi Nagata participated in the 1932 Los Angeles Olympics playing both hockey games as a forward. He also served as a referee for the Dainippon Hockey Association. Later he was elected as the first chairman of the Ehime Hockey Association and director of the Japan Hockey Association. Nagata died of liver inflammation at only 53 years of age.
