Paulos Mylonas studied civil engineering and architecture at the National Technical University of Athina (Athens). During the occupation in World War II, he worked as a curator at the School of Architecture and subsequently completed his postgraduate studies at Columbia University in New York from 1945-49. In 1956, Mylanos was appointed full professor of rhythmology at the College of Fine Arts. In 1976 he returned to Columbia for a teaching position.
In 1996 Mylonas was elected a full member of the Athens Academy of Architecture. In addition to his teaching activities, he maintained an architectural design studio. Mylonas designed the Military Club of Thessaloniki, the National Gallery, and the building of the Goethe Institute. For eight years he was responsible for the restoration of the Church of the Resurrection and the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem. He also researched Mount Athos and 19th century neoclassical architecture in Athens. He was married to the famous choreographer Rallou Manos (1915-1988). It is uncertain which stadium project was Mylonas’ entry. Ta Isthmia, the planned “Olympic Stadium” of the engineering school in Loutraki, is from the proper era.
