In 1955 she married Patrick Leo Henry (1918-2011), a professor of ancient and medieval English history. The couple lived in Dublin, Belfast, and Connemara for the next 10 years, but eventually settled in Galway. Three of Ní Shúilleabháin’s plays were shown on Irish television and eight radio plays were broadcast on the radio, and she also wrote plays for amateur theatres.
