Hans Schmincke studied at the Städelschule in Frankfurt from 1928 to 1935 under Willi Baumeister and Richard Scheibe, amongst others. He then worked freelance and was involved in the ceiling frescoes of Schwarzenraben Castle. During World War II, he was taken prisoner of war. Afterward, he lived and worked as a lecturer, painter, and graphic artist in Frankfurt/Main. Later he became a lecturer at the School of Arts and Crafts in Offenbach, later renamed the College for Design. His contribution “Football Player” was a charcoal drawing from 1952.
