Biography

Roman Micał began his field hockey career when he was 16-years-old, playing for Piast Gliwice in 1955. By 1959 Micał had joined AZS AWF Katowice and played for the club until 1974 before he returned to Piast, playing there until 1978. From 1958 to 1966 he played in 36 matches for the Polish national hockey team including representing the side at the 1960 Roma Olympics. Poland finished in 12th place at the Roma Games with Micał playing in the matches against Pakistan and Japan. Following his retirement from the sport he worked as a coach and a hockey referee for 20 years.
