Fritz Kehrer was a mainstay on the Red Sox Zürich hockey team from the mid-1930s through to the 1940s during which time he also made several appearances with the national team. The peak of his international career would come in 1948 when he was one of three members of the Red Sox club to be selected to compete at the London Olympics. There, the Swiss team finished in fifth place with one win and two ties, unfortunately not advancing past the preliminary round despite not losing a single match.
