Patricia Norford was an Australian fencer who represented the Swords Club in Sydney. Norford initially took up the sport so her actor husband would have someone to practice with while he learned to fence for Shakespearean roles. Within three short years she became the Australian foil champion and earned herself a place on the Olympic team. At the 1952 Helsinki Games, however, she failed to win any bouts in her pool and was eliminated from the competition.
