Emilie Schwind was an active member of Cercle Wallon d’Escrime et de Gymnastique in Bruxelles during the 1930s; she was the runner-up in the 1934 senior national women’s foil competition and finished in third place in 1936. Joining the Société Royale La Grande Harmonie by the mid-1940s, Schwind was one of three female fencers (alongside veterans in the sport, Adèle Christiaens and Jenny Addams) selected for the national team in 1948 to compete at the London Olympic Games. She competed in the individual foil event, finishing seventh in her pool after losing all six of her bouts. Her husband Ferdinand Schwind also competed in domestic competitions in the 1930s as a member of La Grande Harmonie.
