Lionel Boniface, Marquis de Castellane-Majastres was a member of the Castellane family from La Provence, which is considered one of the oldest families of the French nobility. Lionel, Marquis de Castellane-Majastres went out in the semi-finals of the individual foil at the 1920 Olympics, but won a silver medal in the team event. He also competed as a swimmer, although not at the Olympics. He was the owner of vineyards and was a winemaker.
