Although Daubeney Drury never won the British épée title, he did compete in the final pool in both 1927 and 1928, the latter of which resulted in his selection for the Amsterdam Olympics. Unfortunately, the four-man épée team finished last of three in their opening pool, and were eliminated.
Drury was the winner of the 1911 British Junior Épée Championship, which was open to fencers who had not won national representative honours or appeared in the final pool of any national épée championship. Drury was a fine left-handed fencer and won many competitions at Salle Bertrand, including the 1924 Brassard d’Honneur. He was twice a member of the Great Britain squad at the Coupe International d’Épée in Paris (1925 and 1927), and he also represented Britain in the international against Portugal in Lisboa in 1928.
