László Széchy started his sports career as a fencer with MAFC in 1909. Between 1927 and 1932 he was with Tisza István Vívó Club. Széchy was a member of the Hungarian sabre team, winning a silver medal at the 1924 Paris Olympics. After finishing his sports career, he became secretary of the Hungarian Fencing Assotiation and MAFC. In 1915 Széchy graduated from the Budapest University of Technology with a degree in mechanical engineering. He later worked for the Budapest Electric Company, where he retired as director.
