Competing in a single Olympics, Baldo Baldi benefitted from the absence of the Hungarian fencers in Antwerp to take two gold medals in the team events. In the foil he competed in the match against Great Britain in the preliminary heats (won 9-7), after which Italy advanced to the final pool. In the sabre competition, the Italians won all of their 7 matches. In honor of his sporting achievements, Baldi was awarded a Gold Medal by the Italian Olympic Committee.
