E. A. Tweedale was one of the great lacrosse goalkeepers in the 1920s. He was captain of Heaton Mersey in the early part of the decade when he also played for Cheshire and represented The North in the annual match against The South. He was in goal for The North in 1926 when they won 26-2 at Lord’s. It remained a record score for this fixture until 1982 when The North won again by the same score.
