Frank Pater was one of 12 members of the Birmingham & District Gymnastics Association selected for Great Britain at the 1912 Stockholm Olympics, but he was a non-starter. A few months earlier he was third in the Birmingham and District Gymnastics Championship, won by Alfred Messenger. That would appear to be the nearest Pater came to winning a senior title.
