The son of a surgeon, Frank Greaves followed his father into the medical profession. After finishing his training at the Middlesex Hospital, he was admitted as a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons (MRCS) in 1872 and practiced at his home in Holloway, London. He was also the senior honorary secretary of the Royal British Nurses Association.
A keen rifle shot, Dr. Greaves was a member of the country’s leading clay bird club at the turn of the 19th century, the Middlesex Gun Club at Hendon, North London. Although selected for the skeet event at the 1908 London Olympics, Greaves never took part.
