The son of a surgeon, George Brodribb was educated at Eastbourne College, University College, Oxford, and Ely Theological College before being ordained a priest. At Oxford, Brodribb was a swimming half-Blue and a member of the University water polo team, and also rowed with the first Eight in intercollege races. Brodribb was also a Sussex swimming champion and water polo referee, officiating in one game at the 1908 London Olympics. He was president of the Southern Counties Swimming Association in 1912-13
Having served several parishes since his ordination, Brodribb’s final parish was St. John’s, Horbury Bridge, near Wakefield, Yorkshire. He served them from was 1923 until his retirement in November 1945. Sadly, Brodribb died the following August.
