Andrew Inglis was a member of the Glasgow Thistle Swimming Club and enjoyed a long career in aquatics as both a competitor and official. He held virtually every position possible and was a life member of the Scottish ASA, who he served for more than 20 years until standing down in 1938. Inglis represented Scotland on international and Olympic committees, and was a representative on the International Water Polo Board as well as FINA, the Fédération Internationale de Natation, renamed World Aquatics in 2023. Inglis officiated at two Olympics, Paris 1924 and Los Angeles 1936. He had the honour of refereeing the 1924 final between France and Belgium.
