At the 1946 Central American and Caribbean Games at Barranquilla, Colombia, defender Pedro Matrona came on as a substitute in the match against Puerto Rico when Curaçao established their record win, 14-0 and went on to take the bronze medal. He competed in the 1948 CCCF (Confederación Centroamericana y del Caribe de Fútbol) Championship in Guatelama, and two years later won a gold medal at the Central American and Caribbean Games, also in Guatemala. After playing three matches in the 1953 CCCF Championship he went on to win a bronze medal at the 1955 Pan American Games, the only time Curaçao entered the competition. In 1957 he represented Curaçao in three World Cup qualifying matches and also represented his country in the CCCF Championship on home soil in Willemstad. The last of his 32 international caps was in a 3-2 defeat by Denmark in Århus in 1958.
