Biography

Bogdan “Boscia” Tanjevic had a long career as a coach that saw him lead four national teams, Yugoslavia, Italy, Turkey, and Montenegro. He was also coach to nine club teams in those same for countries, and also in France.

In four seasons with the Italian national team between 1998-2001, Tanjevic led them to four major championships. He coached them at the 1998 World Championships in Athina and the 1999 European Championships in Paris, when they won the title for the first time since 1983. He also guided them to the 2000 Sydney Olympics, and finally the 2001 European Championship in Istanbul. With Yugoslavia he won a silver medal at the 1981 European Championships and in 2010 he won a World Championships silver with Turkey on home soil.

Tanjevic was a demanding coach from his early days, and in 1979 led the Bosna Sarajevo boys to victory in the European Champions’ Cup. He was also five-times a Korac Cup finalist, with four different teams. With Milano he won the Italian League title in 1996, and won other national titles with Bosna, Lyon-Villeurbanne, and Fenerbahce.
