Biography

John Allison was the Scottish Amateur Welterweight champion six years in succession between 1951-56 before losing it to the non-Olympian George McKenzie in 1957. A reserve for the 1952 Olympics, Allison went to the 1954 British Empire Games at Vancouver but unfortunately finished sixth and last in the welterweight competition. After ending his competitive career, Allison became a referee.
