Biography

Pietro Masera was a pioneer in the sport of weightlifting in Lombardy, Italy. Masera first started out as a wrestler, earning a place on the Italian Olympic team for the 1968 Mexico City Olympics, although he did not compete. He then switched to weightlifting, becoming a noted coach after he graduated as a Master of Sports in the early 1970s. In 1980 Masera founded the Pesistica Bustese sporting club, before leading the regional committee of Lombardy for 20 years. His final role was in managing to the Italian national weightlifting team.
