Biography

Luis Machado da Silva, known as Wanderley, played football for Brazil at the 1960 Roma Olympics. A striker, Wanderley played professionally mostly in Spain, first with Elche CF, after beginning his career in Brazil with Vasco da Gama. He later played for Levante, Málaga, and Hércules in a career that lasted through 1972. His Olympic appearances in 1960 were his only national appearances for Brazil. Wanderley ran a family pharmacy business in Massanassa. His brother Waldo also played in the Spanish League with Valencia and with Wanderley at Hércules.
