From 1953 to 1968 Bulgarian football forward Stefan Abadzhiev played in more than 250 matches for Levski Sofia. Abadzhiev won three league titles with the club (1953, 1965, 1968) and four Bulgarian Cups (1956, 1957, 1959, 1967). After his successful career in his home country, he then spent two seasons in Germany playing for SV Wiesbaden before ending his professional career. He made his international début for the Bulgaria national football team in June 1955 in a 1–1 draw against Poland. In his 27 appearances for the team he only scored one goal, in Bulgaria’s 2–1 win against Denmark in December 1959. The following year Abadzhiev was part of the Bulgarian squad that competed in the football tournament at the 1960 Roma Olympics, playing in all their matches in the group stage. Bulgaria finished second in their group to Yugoslavia at the Roma Games with only the top team in each group advancing. Following his playing career Abadzhiev returned to Germany to coach teams including Borussia Neunkirchen and FC Homburg.
