Biography

Manol Manolov was a highly successful defender for CSKA Sofia and the Bulgarian national team. He joined the army team in 1948, and between then and his goodbye in 1962, he won a record twelve national titltes, as well as 4 Bulgarian Cups, and player of the year in 1958. He also won 57 caps for Bulgaria, playing at three Olympics, winning a bronze in 1956. After his retirement, Manolov returned to CSKA as a head coaching, leading the team during two spells (1969-1975 and 1984-1985). In the first period, he won three more Bulgarian titles, as well as two cups, and he added a third cup in 1985.
