Chilean football midfielder Fernando Jara spent his entire domestic career with Universidad Católica, playing for the club from 1950 to 1961. Jara’s honours with the club included two First Division titles (1954, 1961) and a Second Division title (1956). He made his international début for the national team in 1952 at the Olympic Games in Helsinki. Chile only played in one match during the tournament with a 5–4 defeat to Egypt in the qualifying round.
