He Yingfen was a football player and coach from Hong Kong. He was born into a family from Nanhai in Guangdong and attended La Salle College in Hong Kong. Due to the outbreak of World War II he had to quit school. In 1941 He joined the St. Joseph’s Football Club and started a career as a Group A right winger. But later the same year, Hong Kong was attacked by Japan and the season had to be discontinued. After the war, He Yingfen was invited to play for Sing Tao and accompanied the team on a trip to England in 1947. He then played for Kitchee SC, South China, KMB, Eastern Sports Club, Kwong Wah, Yuen Long, Five-One-Seven and a number of other teams changing the club almost annually. Since 1965, He acted as a player-coach before he retired two years later after 20 years of active competition. During this time, he played 11 matches for the national team scoring five times including the game against Turkey at the 1948 London Olympics. With the Chinese team coached by Li Huitang, He won gold medals at the 1954 and 1958 Asian Games. His coaching career started with the Chinese team at the 1966 Merdeka Cup in Malaysia, and later he was appointed chief coach of the national teams of Laos and Hong Kong.
