Biography

A defender for Tonnerre Kalara Club (TKC) of Yaoundé, Mbassi played with that side through its most successful period in club history, when it captured 5 national titles between 1981 and 1988. In 1984, “Le Genie” (The Genius) played in the African Cup of Nations, helping Cameroon to win its first title in that tournament. Later in the year, Luc Mbassi was also in the selection for the 1984 Olympics, where his national team was eliminated in the group stage. After his playing career, he taught physical education and sports in high school in Yaoundé.
