Isidro Sala played in 432 matches, across 13 seasons, for Girona FC, a record for any player with the club. As well as captaining the team, Sala was the only footballer to play for Girona and compete at the Olympics, playing in the 1968 tournament in Mexico City. After Sala’s retirement from football, the Catalan Football Federation awarded him with the Silver Medal to Sports Merit. He went on to coach teams, and he later became the mayor of his hometown.
