Biography

Ondřej Hodboď was a promising Czech middle-distance runner who specialised in the steeplechase. In the under-17 category Hodboď won multiple national titles before finishing fourth at the 2018 European U17 Championships in Hungary. These performances earned him a place on the Czech team for the 2018 Youth Olympics in Buenos Aires where he placed 12th in the 2,000 metres steeplechase. At the Czech Junior Championships he won back-to-back golds in the 3,000 metres steeplechase in 2019 and 2020, along with gold in the 1,500 metres at the 2020 indoor championships. Tragically Hodboď was only 19-years-old when he took his own life in September 2020.
