Alegna Osorio won a bronze medal at the 2018 Youth Olympic Games in the hammer throw. In 2019 she also finished third in the Pan American U-20 Championships. Sadly, in April 2021, Osorio was struck in the head by a hammer, and went into a coma as she developed a traumatic brain injury. She died three months later, in July 2021.
