Biography

Marc-Kanyan Case was a footballer who started his career in the French overseas territory of New Caledonia before playing in France. Case was born in New Caledonia in 1942 where he played for Olympique Nouméa from 1955 to 1963. In New Caledonia he was the top goal scorer in the 1960/61 and 1961/62 seasons. During 1963 Case played in two international matches for the New Caledonia national team before moving to France at the end of the year.

Once in France Case joined Gazélec Ajaccio, a team based on the island of Corsica, where he scored in his very first match for the club. Case’s talent would earn him a place in the French national team, where he won gold at the 1967 Mediterranean Games, and competed at the 1968 Mexico City Olympics. Case then joined SC Bastia, another Corsican team, playing in 182 matches and scoring 58 goals for the club from 1969 to 1973. This was followed by a two-year stint on the French mainland with Nîmes, before Case returned to play for Gazélec Ajaccio, where he ended his professional career.

Case then returned to New Caledonia where he turned to politics and was elected as a member of the Rally for Caledonia in the Republic party on the island of Nouméa. Case was also the Vice-President of the Congress of New Caledonia.
