Biography

French football defender Gines Gonzales began his career with AS Saint-Étienne in 1957, but only represented the side in 14 matches in four seasons. In 1961 Gonzales he signed with RC Strasbourg, where he became a more established player, playing in 124 games until 1965. He then returned to Saint-Étienne, where he won the French Division 1 title in the 1966–67 season. During his decade-long career Gonzales also represented the French national team at the 1960 Roma Olympics, playing in their 2–1 win against Peru. After his playing career he worked as a coach for the amateur section of Saint-Étienne.
