Cheryl Roberts competed as a singles table tennis player at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. She was a member of the first National Executive Committee of the National Sports Council, the forerunner of the South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee. She was awarded the Andrew Mlangeni Green Jacket, an award that honors Rivonia trialist, Andrew Mlangeni. Roberts was known to support young table tennis players, often giving young girls or women her own money to help them pay for supplies and travel expenses to competition.
