A full-back, Gus Camichael played for the Scottish amateur side Queen’s Park in the immediate post-war era, making 42 League appearances for them. He was a qualified veterinary surgeon and quit football and moved to England to try an get employment. He worked in several veterinary practices around the country and during his time at Kendal the famous Scottish football manager Bill Shankly offered him a place in the Carlisle United team but he turned it down in favour of his veterinary career. Angus later worked at the Royal Veterinary College in Hatfield. He retired to Lincolnshire in 1990.
