Midfielder Renate Lingor was a member of the German female football squad that was eliminated in the group stage at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. At the next three consecutive Olympic Games she won three bronze medals. She also became a World Cup winner in 2003 and 2007, and European Champion in 2001 and 2005. In 2006, she won the Algarve Cup. Lingor won 149 international caps and scored 35 goals. She was awarded the Silver Bay Leaf, Germany’s highest sports award.
Domestically, Lingor played with SC Klinge Seckach (1991-97) and 1. FFC Frankfurt (1997-2008). In 1999, 2001-03, 2005, and 2007-08 she helped Frankfurt win the German national title and the German Cup in 1999-2003 and 2007-08. In 2002, 2006, and 2008 she was also on the Frankfurt Champions League winning team.
Lingor was of Russian descent and studied sports science. From 2006 she worked with the German Football Association in the field of school soccer. She was inducted into the German Soccer Hall of Fame in 2019.
