Josef Glaser was a member of the German soccer team at the 1912 Stockholm Olympics. He was a center half and played for Freiburger FC, winning the German Championship in 1907, beating Viktoria 89 Berlin 3-1. Glaser scored the penalty for the 1-0 lead in this game. He earned five international caps.
By profession Glaser was a high school teacher of chemistry and sports education. As a sports administrator he became head of the playing board of the German Football Association DFB from 1927-36, and was chef d’équipe at the 1934 World Cup in Italy. After World War II Glaser became president of the Football Association of South Baden and of the Sport Association of South Baden. In 1997 a sports hall in Freiburg was renamed “Josef-Glaser-Hall.”
