Biography

Emil Oberle was a member of the German soccer team at the 1912 Stockholm Olympics. He played as a left wing or left half for Phoenix Karlsruhe from 1900-25. In 1909 the team won the German Championship against Viktoria 89 Berlin by 4-2. Oberle earned five international caps from 1909-12, scoring one goal.

After World War I Oberle lived in Turkey, and was involved in the construction of the Bagdad-Railway. Later he became director of Deutsche Bank in Turkey. After World War II Oberle led his home club Phoenix Karlsruhe for a couple of years, but then returned to Turkey. He died from an embolism in 1955 while visiting Germany.
