Guatemalan footballer Peter Sandoval began his career with Universidad SC in 1968, spending two years with the club. In 1970 Sandoval joined Comunicaciones FC where he spent the next 10 years, winning five league titles (1970–72, 1978, 1980) and the National Cup in 1972. Also in 1972 Comunicaciones played a match against the Costa Rican team Deportivo Saprissa at the newly-opened Ricardo Saprissa stadium. The match ended in a 1–1 draw, with Sandoval becoming the first player to score a goal at the venue. He then played for a couple of smaller teams in Guatemala before ending his club career with Once Lobos in El Salvador in 1987. Sandoval also played for the national team during his career, including representing them at the 1976 Montréal Olympics.
